In a sustained crackdown following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, security forces and authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their actions by demolishing the houses of multiple suspects allegedly involved in the April 22 assault that claimed 26 lives, including a Nepalese national.
On Saturday, the house of a suspected terrorist in Chotipora village, Shopian district, was demolished by security forces. Officials stated the suspect is believed to be linked to the Pahalgam attack, which targeted tourists at Baisaran meadow and sparked nationwide outrage.
In another coordinated action, the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie in Mutalhama village of Kulgam district was also razed. Ganie has reportedly been active in terror activities since 2023 and is suspected of playing a role in the brutal assault.
Earlier, the residence of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Thokar, alias Adil Guree, was also demolished. Adil, a native of Guree village in Anantnag’s Bijbehara block, is considered one of the prime suspects and has been declared “most wanted.” Authorities revealed he had received terror training in Pakistan after illegally crossing the border in 2018. A reward of ₹20 lakh has been announced for information leading to his arrest.
Security forces had earlier demolished the homes of two other LeT terrorists—one in Tral, Pulwama, and the other belonging to Adil Guree. A family member of one of the accused told ANI that the family was unaware of any terror links and claimed the accused was a “Mujahideen.”
Meanwhile, in Kulgam’s Qaimoh area, two terrorist associates were arrested in a joint operation by the police and security forces. The arrests were made in Thokerpora village.
Amid the ongoing operations, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar to review the security situation post-attack. The Indian Army has been on high alert since the incident, launching extensive search and counter-terror operations across the region.
Public anger continues to rise across the country, with protests demanding stronger action against Pakistan, which is accused of sheltering the terrorists behind the Pahalgam massacre.
